Solid body electric bass
The STERLING BY MUSIC MAN SUB StingRay RAY4 (MN, Chopper Blue) solid body electric bass features a Jabon or Basswood modern contoured body, Maple neck, Jatoba or Maple neck depending on colors, humbucking pickup with ceramic magnets, a 2-band active preamp, and a bridge modeled after the iconic Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay.
Jabon is a fast growing tree native from Indonesia. Its tonal properties are identical to Baswood’s one.
Basswood is a very good tonewood, used by many high-end makers for its very light weight.
Basswood bodies have a fat and well-balanced tonality. There’s a strong midrange, but also a certain softness, breathiness, superb dynamics and definition.
Fingerboard is made of Brazilian Cherry / Jatoba. It is a tonewood very similar to Pau Ferro. Its warm tone is tempered by a snappy attack. In between Rosewood and Maple.
