Featuring ESI’s innovative automatic MIDI detection technology, each of the M8U eX’s 16 ports can be configured as either MIDI input or MIDI output. This flexibility not only replaces traditional MIDI interfaces like our previous popular models with 8 inputs and 8 outputs, but also offers various possible configurations. For example, you can use up to 16 outputs simultaneously, or up to 16 inputs, or any other combination such as 12 outputs and 4 inputs. Each input/output configuration is automatically indicated by colored LEDs on the front panel.

If the number of ports is insufficient, multiple M8U eX units can be connected to the same computer. This functionality is facilitated by the built-in, high-speed USB 3.0 hub, which also allows for connecting other USB devices such as software dongles, USB keyboards, and more, directly to your computer. Thus, the M8U eX truly becomes the central hub for MIDI and USB devices in your studio or live performance setup.
