Solid body electric bass
Used during decades in boat and airplane building, west african native Okoume is a great low density tonewood for electric guitars (John Suhr has been using it for many years).
Sonically, it can be considered as Mahogany with a brighter high end and more dynamic range, improving the clarity of the guitar.
The fingerboard is made of Purpleheart. It’s a dense tonewood recalling brazilian Rosewoods.
For 30 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. With its continued popularity, Ibanez is constantly endeavoring to answer the wider needs of a variety of players, at a variety of budgets.
But no matter what the specs, the heart is the same-SR continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body, and perfectly matched electronics.

A guitar doesn’t have to cost a lot to sound great. The GIO series was developed for players who want Ibanez quality and performance in a more affordable package. Not only do they look and play better than many other offerings in their price range, but they are held to the same standards and come with warranty is the same as Ibanez’s more expensive models.
